Medium

Steel, tape, and paper

Association

Manufactured by an incarcerated individual for close-quarters combat within a correctional facility.

Description

Improvised prison weapon constructed from a slender steel blade sharpened to a tapered point. The handle is formed by bending the steel tang to create an angled grip, which is tightly wrapped in black tape to improve handling and partially conceal the underlying metal. A small wad of folded paper is visible at the base of the handle, likely serving as filler or padding beneath the tape. The blade exhibits heavy surface oxidation, corrosion, and wear consistent with improvised manufacture and prolonged use.
