Improvised prison-made shank constructed from a long, narrow metal blade terminating in a sharply tapered point. The lower portion has been heavily wrapped in brown fabric strips to form a crude but substantial grip, with additional layers of translucent tape reinforcing the handle and securing the wrapping in place. The irregular, frayed textile and accumulated wear give the piece a strongly utilitarian appearance consistent with repeated handling and concealment.
The blade itself is comparatively long and narrow, with visible surface wear and hand-finished edges. Its simple geometry and heavily improvised grip reflect the functional character of inmate-made weapons, where available materials are adapted into compact, concealable forms.
The shank is accompanied by an improvised protective sheath fashioned from folded cardboard and repurposed retail packaging, apparently used to cover the sharpened blade when stored or carried. T
