Description

Executed in black-and-grey on cloth, the composition centers on a topless female pin-up figure depicted with large feathered angel wings and a halo.

The figure combines erotic pin-up imagery with religious and fantasy symbolism, a recurring contrast within Chicano prison and tattoo art. Soft shading around the body and wings creates a photographic, airbrushed effect, while the halo and feathered wings frame the woman as an idealized figure rather than a conventional religious subject.

Notes

Stylistically, the black-and-grey pin-up and angel imagery is consistent with prison artwork commonly seen from the 2000s onward. Based on the group of pieces it was acquired with, however, a later date in the 2010s or even 2020s is also possible. Without a signature or dated inscription, the exact period remains uncertain.
